Table runner class 2

Supply List for Table Runner Class

Table runner will be 16 X 40 inches
Fabric  I would advise against a directional fabric trying to cut the fabric so that it is the right direction takes some thought and means cutting some pieces separately. Fabric A can be directional.

Fabric A – ½ yard
This is the fabric in the center of the blocks and the border. This should be a medium to large print. If you want to fussy cut the fabric to show off certain motifs in the print (a flower, snowman, pumpkin) you should have at least ¾ of a yard. For a print like I used the half yard will do.

Fabric B- 1/3 yard or 1 Fat Quarter*
This is the fabric that makes the corners of the center squares and is used for the binding. It should NOT blend into the print fabric in other words you want to see it in the corners. You can pick a color from the print but make sure it is one that doesn't dominate the print.

Fabric C- ½ yard or 1 Fat Quarter*
This the purple in the picture above. A smaller scale print here is good.

Fabric D- ½ yard or 1 Fat Quarter*
This is your background fabric. A tone on tone print like a white on white, cream on cream. Something the other fabrics will stand out against.

Backing for the runner a piece of fabric that is at least 42 X 18 inches This can be muslin or whatever you want.

Batting again at least 42 X 18 inches I don't think you will a puffy batting for this project so any thin batting. When machine quilting I like Warm and Natural,

Fabric should be 100% cotton. A Fat Quarter is a piece of fabric that should be 22 X 18 inches, You can find them at quilt and fabric stores. Joann's at the Mall,  and From Past to Present on Main St in St. Clairsville Oh are all places to buy fabric.
For the 1st class it would help if you have your sewing machine, fabric and cutting supplies but not necessary.
Supplies
Sewing Machine that is working
Thread a neutral color but you will want some thread that matches the backing you choose to use your bobbin when you we start the quilt-as-you-go part.
scissors
Cutting mat, Rotary cutter, ruler for use with a rotary cutter. Some stores sell these in sets (if you aren't sure what this is I will have some for the first class)
Seam ripper, something to mark fabric,
